Tessalated Red Sand Stone Jaalis, Iron Castings and Flat Mild Steel Fabrication

The Indian National Science Academy building was built in Dholpur Sandstone used across New Delhi. In keeping with the historical craft traditions of Delhi, we were commissioned to draw out and detail a set of traditional geometrical tessellations to insert into the thin slots of the building. These were hand plotted and drawn out, thicknesses resolved and a different tessellation developed for each floor.

Similar designs were developed and drawings were made for the large 60 mm x 60 m Steel castings that framed the 5 Atriums of the building. These too were drawn and detailed for casting.

Other designs were developed for mild steel fabrication for railings and gates.
