Silkworm

Angela Clarke is a performance artist doing her PhD at Monash University. As part of her project she develops and performs music – writing lyrics and music and performing with her band, Luminate Ensemble. Angela asked me to illustrate her song Silkworm which formed the centerpiece of her first recording output. The collaboration was enriching and the result a book, and a CD with illustrations and design done in ballpoint pen then Vectorised and colourised in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
The illustrative content was derived from the line – referencing the thread of silk -and all form derived thereof. The illustrations were done using a bic 0.7 ballpoint pen at 1: 2 scale to establish a fineness of line
